I always hate walking into the White Cube in Hoxton. It smacks of everything that is elitist, cold and consumerist in art. Masons Yard just 'feels' better. When i saw Cat Man I just rolled my eyes and thought 'Oh God, here we go again.' But then I saw the bust of Buck. The bust greets you before everything else, his head thrown back, face in ecstacy. It really is a beautiful piece. But everything else is down hill. Hello, Jeff Koons! It just seems to lack the idiosyncracy that the live individuals (well, Buck at least) exude. I guess the orchids are beautiful. I expect more Quinn, I want to be challenged. This is mediocre shock tactics for the middle classes.
